Kelly Was A Lovely Girl

Kelly Was A Lovely Girl
– Kelly Marion Potter, USA Veteran

Kelly was a lovely girl with thoughtful, caring ways.

She wanted just to love the world and brighten up our days.

And so she fought the battle which raged against her heart,

But lying, hateful people were tearing her apart.

And no one listens to her cries,

And no one hears her say

The silent plea she often makes;

“I’m needing love today!”

Kelly was a little girl with trusting, open eyes.

Until the day she learned to hide from prying passerbys.

She put a mask upon her face; she learned to play the game.

She ran away from everyone… she never was the same.

And no one listens to her cries,

And no one hears her say

The silent plea she often makes;

“I’m needing love today!”

She showed the world her smile; she shared her funny wit.

And people were delighted ‘cause her humor never quit.

But, underneath that cheerful face, she slowly turned to ice.

And, one perfect, sunny day….

Kelly took her life!!

And no one listened to her cries,

And no one heard her say

One last plea before she died;

“I needed love today!”
